What is a Dollar General NCI or Home Store

What is a Dollar General NCI or Home Store?

Dollar General is expanding its non-consumable initiative (NCI), which consists of a new and expanded assortment in key non-consumable categories including home, domestics, housewares, party and occasion.

Dollar General NCI stores are also known as Dollar General Home stores.

Dollar General started testing stores that had more home type items (decor, rugs, towels, dishes, party supplies, etc.) than consumable goods.

Many of these are older Dollar General stores that are shut down, remodeled and then open back up as an NCI store.

Dollar General NCI stores do have consumable goods such as toilet paper and groceries they just have a bigger "home" section than regular Dollar General stores.

According to Dollar General these stores are meant to be like T.J. Maxx where you may find a really great item for a low price.

Dollar General Corporation currently operates about 15,000 stores, opening about 1,000 new stores per year. By the end of 2020 5,000 stores will be NCI stores according to Dollar General.

How Do I Find Dollar General Home Stores

Dollar  General NCI stores usually have a "Home" sign hanging at the front of the store with the home items showcased as you walk in. iN older home stores NCI items are in the back of the store.

Dollar General also has a "Home Store Locator" on their website but we have found it is not 100% accurate.

The best way to find these stores seems to be simply venturing out in your local area to find them.

If you are a regular Dollar General shopper you should be able to notice the stores that have nicer home items from regular Dollar General stores.
